Spring is in the air

The sun is out and there is definatley been a sense of sping in the air, which is lovely but they say it is not going to last :(

In the papers today, the place I was brought up and live in has been named the most deprived place in England :(

Right back to craft,

I had my first commission since starting the blog, the remit was a 30th birthday card for a male who sings, with the word Brother.

This is what i came up with

The second card was one I made for my youngest son's godfather.
The papers are from a hot off the press cardmakers stack the sentiment is cut using george and basic shapes on the cricut and the car is a recycled topper, i have been able to use this because the card was for personal use and not to be sold.

Now for some old stuff

Back to DD's first year album and this is the layout of her first holiday at Disneyland Resort Paris, she was only 8 weeks old.

This is DD at 4 months, I took quite a few pics as she went from wide awake to fast asleep

Spring Cleaning

Well, today, the sun came out for a while so I actually did some spring cleaning.
The conservatory was getting a bit of a state, with all of the kids stuff, the guinea pigs the washing, the exercise machines etc etc etc.......
The conservatory is not the usual conservatory that you would imagine.  It has to double as my craft room, dining room, laundry room, pet housing, and gym as well as general dumping ground.

So after 5 hours, there is improvement :) it is still not finished but it is a lot better.

I have also managed to photograph step by step the process to make 'string flowers' which will feature further down this post.

I finished the cards I started the other day, I used the string flowers as the topper.

Hope you like them

Right, I saw a demo of how to make these 'string flowers' on a stall at the stitch and creative crafts show at Braintree last month. I think the stall was called Meiflower.  Anyways, I have now got the hang of how to make them (It did take a few attempts).

So heres how :)
Things you need

Scissors
Thread/string
A button
Double sided tape (dst)

1) First tie a knot through the button holes
then cut

2) Turn over and put double sided tape
(dst) on the back of the button

3) Stick the end of the thread
on the reel to the button

4) Make a loop
and stick thread to the button
5) Stick another piece of dst
on top of the thread
6) Now fold back the thread so it sticks
into position to make the next loop
7) Add another piece of dst

8) make the next loop and stick the thread down
9) again add a piece of dst and repeat steps 6 onwards until you have a minimum of 5 loops
10) once you have fixed the last loop
with tape (leave backing on) and cut thread

11) There is your finished flower :)

Hope you enjoy x

A blustery day

From the sunny and warm couple of days we have  had, today's whistling wind and dark grey clouds are still telling us its winter :(  here's hoping that spring comes very soon.

I have been busy making cards, but not quite finished them.

So here's some i made earlier, lol

The washing line is hand drawn and the grass was water coloured the flowers are tiny pearl coloured embellishments, the clothes on the washing line are Forever Friends stickers. Cannot remember where the stripy background paper is from. I have had the buttons for ages.  The writing was printed on the computer.

This card I made at the Stitch and Creative Craft Show, I recently visited at Braintree.  We did a workshop with Anna Marie who sells her templates on Create and Craft. We had great fun making these.

Well after a busy weekend, of dancing and football ( DS team won 9-1 and he scored twice).
Today is Shrove Tuesday  (Pancake Day), well I did Pancakes last night with my guides, then today at home with the kids and then tonight Scouts did them too, so I think I have had my fill of Pancakes for this year. lol.

Freebie time :)

Right because it's pancake day, I have made an SVG for you.

This can be found at frying pan svg

Now for some of my craft

Another Sunday

Sundays in our house mean two things.  Football (soccer) and Roast Dinner.  The football season is over for my oldest two sons, but my youngest and his team, C. United under 11's still have a few to play, today we are off to his match.

Yesterday we went to DD's exam presentation.

DD with her dance teacher

Right now to craft :)

Thought I would show you my latest layouts.  I have just started an album for our holiday last year to Disneyland Resort Paris(dlrp).
This is the title page, the 2010 symbol I got from this great little site http://www.scrappingthemagic.co.uk/ the dlrp logo, I converted into an mtc file and cut.

If you would like my dlrp cutting file just leave a comment with a way to contact you and i will happily send it to you.

The next page is about the first part of the journey.  We didn't tell them where we were heading, they thought we were going to London for a couple of days ;)
The paper is from a HOTP finished in a flash camping set, with black paper as the shadow layer.  The skyline of London is another of my homemade MTC files.

You can find the mtc file for the text at a trip to london
and the mtc file for the london skyline at london skyline mtc

Watchin week today

Today my DD has watchin' week at Ballet and Tap, so 'dragging' DH to go and watch as he is usually at work, so he doesn't get the chance to see her dancing and he missed her show due to the bad weather in December. As well as that she has her other dance school presentation this afternoon, she will be receiving her exam results, medal and certificate for her street dancing. Plus number 2 son has footy practise so another busy day ahead.

Back to craft :)

The first card I am showing you is the card I gave to my nephew for his 16th birthday.
The card size is 6 x 6, the green, orange and patterned paper mats were cut using my cricut, as were the embellishments.  The mp3 player and headphone were files i converted from royalty free clipart using the pixel trace feature of Make the Cut (MTC), please excuse the symbols on the mp3 player they were hand drawn as they were too small to show up when cut out.  The patterned paper was a freebie with a magazine a couple of years ago.
(If i ever figure out how to share my files, I will post the player and headphones)

Next is the card I made for my cousins little one on her first birthday. Again on this easel card I used my cricut with MTC to cut out the words, the font is one I purchased from Lettering Delights and is called ' LDJ forever friends'.  I love this font as it is so easy to weld :)
The mats were cut from a dingbat alphabet called 09kutups which is similar to having an extra cartridge for the cricut but without the expense ;) I downloaded this free from one of the free font sites.
The image is a digital stamp printed onto white card and then coloured with my promarkers.  I am very new to digistamping and the world of Promarkers so please bear with me.
The digital stamp is a freebie from a talented lady called Angelique from the Netherlands, I love her drawings.  They can be found on her blog http://sliekje.blogspot.com/.

An oldie but a goody, now I am gonna share with you a couple of old layouts, these were made before the days of my cricut  and cuttlebug.  I had just got my first sizzix machine and a bauble die .  The letters of Boy meets world were all cut out by hand. The papers are from a HOTP kit book. These pages are from my eldest sons first year scrapbook (one I must complete).

Hope you enjoyed looking, please leave a comment x

Happy Birthday to my husband

Well today is my husband's Birthday, so naturally I made him a card.
I googled star wars svg and found a site called wookieepedia, which has a selection of star wars svg files. I picked a clone wars version of R2-D2.

Hope you like it x

the mtc file for 'Happy Birthday' can be found at star wars happy birthday

Now for an old layout.  Another page from my DD first year album and because its hubby's birthday, here is the page with the pic of the first time he held Emily, our 4th child and only girl.

Thanks for looking, please leave a comment x

Latest creations

To start off I am going to post one recent card or layout (will be from 2011) and a couple of old ones, then maybe I can deal with the backlog whilst adding new creations too, hope this is ok.  I will try credit others when i remember where i got a freebie or idea.  Please bear with me x

First is the valentines card I made for my husband, this was my first step card and i got it right after 3 attempts.  The background is stamped with versamark ink and a swirly stamp onto red card, the double swirly heart was from Miss Vickie's cutting crazy blog. The word love was downloaded from Make the cut forum gallery from user 155. I cannot remember where the other heart cam from, these were all cut with my cricut personal cutter using make the cut software :)
Next, going way back, this was the first ever layout, in my DD first year scrapbook

Hi

Right, after blog hopping for a while and nagging from my eldest son, I have decided to give blogging a try.  To share some of my crafting creations and files with other crafters.
